Welcome to the Club of Reykjavik and its Challenge

The Club of Reykjavik is a gathering place for like-minded people to share and explore their understanding of the challenge and opportunity of sustainability, especially as it relates to education.

Our thinking is that we are facing some substantial grand challenges - demographic challenges, environmental challenges, political and economic challenges, challenges with respect to food supply, poverty, water and malnutrition, conflict and technology - and that these grand challenges are both problems and opportunities.

More specifically, these challenges suggest that we need to rethink our educational offerings - both formal and informal - so as to enable change to take place - change that will in turn enable a sustainable future.

Each week we will post ideas, suggestions and "solutions" by a member of the Club of Reykjavik and encourage the widest possible response and dialogue. Membership is open to others who commit to posting a regular blog through our streamlined blog publishing model. Contact David Oldroyd (d.oldroyd@wp.pl) or Stephen Murgatroyd (stephen.murgatroyd@shaw.ca) if you would like to join us. You do not need to be a member to comment and react.

All of our blog posts are offered under a commons license for use. Simply acknowledge the author and source and circulate, reproduce, post on other blogs or publish. We wish to encourage the conversation.

From time to time the Club of Reykjavik, in partnership with futureTHINK Press, may pubish pamphlets or books reflecting our thinking, suggestions and practices. You will read about these here.

You can subscribe to this blog so as to make sure you are alerted when new items appear - we encourage you do do this. Meantime, read, think and share!
